(https://toknoweachother.blogspot.com/) ...To know ...is often slightly different than we think.
(http://reframerefraindrainbraininsane.blogspot.com/) ...That which comes into my head ...is not what I think.
We often believe what
others have taught us. Yet, isn’t that
much the way evolutionists believe? They
often build on what others have taught …and add to it. Tradition is a powerful thing, along with the
strong tendency to order our world. One
evolutionist does not likely spend enormous amounts of time trying to prove
another evolutionist wrong. They are
careful how they play their cards …and it is not a competitive game of cards,
it is a house of cards. If they
challenge each other, their entire house of cards may fall.
A person who believes
and has faith in God, may also feel a bit uneasy when their beliefs are
challenged. It may be a subconscious
feeling that they are not even aware of, or they may wear their emotions on
their sleeve and it is clear they feel their beliefs are threatened. Yes, those who believe in God also have their
defenses.
It is a delicate
thing at times. And I have experienced
many occasions where it is unclear whether a thought is being directed by God,
or by a person’s sincere motivation being mixed with a slight excess of
eagerness. When we find something, we often make something out of that which is
not intended, especially if we think it is some new perspective we can eagerly
share, even if what we are sharing is not actually there.
We find ourselves
along a continuum …or often we don’t find ourselves there, but we truly are
there (whether we realize it or not).
And we are at
different places along that continuum at different times (no, we are not always
at the same place).
On one end of the
continuum is: God’s thoughts for us.
At the other end of
the continuum is: that which God doesn’t want us to think.
Yes, that many vary
according to circumstances …all of which God knows about. And in each circumstance, it is God’s desire
to lead us in a healthy path from each point we find ourselves, much of our own
doing. God does not want us to think we
have to go it alone …as He is always there.
But, is He there in our minds …to effectively provide that healthy path
for us. The path is there …we have to
walk it, though I like the poster that shows two sets of footprints converging
into one, saying that it is there that He carried us.
Parents are meant to
carry us through many times in our lives, though that is not always perfect
…and sadly, sometimes far from it. My
own parents have stories to tell of when their own parents went through the
Great Depression. And with that mindset,
I remember my parents never seemed to throw anything away …and they didn’t have
garage sales. In latter years, when all
of us six kids outgrew baby, toddler, and children clothes ---then, I do
remember them participating in clothing drives.
Yes, having the mindset of hard times, they did seem to be much better
at budgeting, especially the saving aspect of it. Buying things on credit
didn’t seem to be as problematic as it often seems today for latter
generations.
So, my parents also
had a treasure trove of toys. Many
friends and relatives who visited wondered how their children could be quietly
occupied for so long. It was because Mom
had showed them where the toys were. One
particular time, my cousin Carol and her husband Tim came to visit with their
children. I believe they had three
children at the time, two girls and a boy.
The oldest was Joshua. There was
a red farm tractor, and Joshua seemed to think that, for the moment anyway,
there was nothing in the world of more value than that red tractor. The tractor was less than a foot high, but it
was a monumental play and pretend experience for Joshua, occupying his complete
visit.
Afterwards, my dad
saw that the little tractor was looking a bit shabby with some of the paint
peeling off …so, Dad decided to paint it green, like a John Deere.
Around Christmas time
the next year, Tim & Carol came for another visit …as Carol’s own parents
live only a mile away. And Joshua went
straight for the front porch …for that tractor.
The next minute,
Joshua came into the living room where the parents were visiting. He looked
upset, and he was holding the tractor, “It’s supposed to be red …why did you
paint it green? It’s supposed to be
red!”
After years of
therapy, he’s okay. Joshua is now
married, has a nice family, and lives in a nice red house. They also have a nice big yard, and he cuts
his grass with a John Deere riding mower, which he painted red.
Just kidding about
the last part, but my point is …we tend to get like that sometimes, don’t we?
For those who believe
in God, often we feel mostly comfortable in the area where we just accept
things the way they are presented, or the way we perceive them. For some of us, if we get challenged, it does
not affect the way we believe …as we are comfortable with what we believe. And this is often a good thing.
But, it may not be a
good thing for the nonbeliever whom we may come in contact with. They likely don’t have the mindset to accept
what we believe, and if we smile and tell them they have to just believe …it
may distance them from us, and more importantly and tragically from God.
Yes, it is most
important that we realize our salvation through Jesus. Yet, it is also important that we understand
how important it is to others, whether they realize it or not. If they don’t
believe the Bible to be accurate, they may assign a huge degree of ‘goodness’ to Jesus …but, their version
of it may be far from what we specifically read, as Jesus is described in the
Bible (inclusive of the statement of He and the Father being One ---the Gospel
of John 10:25-30).
God’s thoughts are
not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9).
Not concerned with
God’s thoughts? (Romans 1:25 & 28; 2Thessalonians 2:10-11)
If God clearly
directs us to do (A), and we choose (B) …God may then direct us to do (C). God did not change His mind …though He has
unconditional love in one respect, He does implement different conditions and
expectations that have the end goal of bringing us closer to Him, even when we
take mindless detours.
God set up
circumstances and conditions for us to understand, and when we do not
respond in the best way …God knows where we are at in our heart. He may choose to grant us mercy and
grace. Or He may choose a new direction
for us …which may include a redirection, or a consequence.
With God’s infinite
wisdom, He has unlimited ways He may choose to respond to us. And along the continuum of God’s thoughts for
us verses what God doesn’t want us to think, are also countless actions and
reactions based upon those thoughts.
I don’t know who it
was, but I heard it was Ben Franklin who said that one time he resolved that he
was going to all he could to be humble, and the closer he felt he got, the
further away from humbleness he found himself.
It is not too uncommon to be proud of good character traits …including
humbleness.
Also good character
traits, we can also strive to be adventurous, eager, enthusiastic, zealous, or
passionate …we can allow our emotions to rule us, or let our drive to bring us
often to rash and impulsive decisions.
The advice is usually to look before we leap …yet, faith is often
admired as leaping according to our feelings of faith. We often don’t look first …look into His Word,
that is.
Anything that God
says, or does …I have no objection to.
How can I? Yet, I still believe
He would not be upset with me wanting to understand His character.
Man’s / Woman’s Thoughts
What God wants us
to know What
God doesn’t
want us to believe
Who He is …
(Exodus 20:2-3)
In God’s Word
That there are many
(and literally
the
Supreme Beings
entire Bible
reveals this to
us) Our value as individuals
only exists because of
our
efforts …
Who we are …
Otherwise,
(John 1:12) we would be worthless …
In God’s Word
(throughout
We are to look out
The Bible)
solely for #1 …
(solely,
because
there is no soul)
We exist because
of
evolution & unless
we continue to evolve
along with
our planet
we will not survive
I remember Schulz
…the good-natured soldier who was assigned to watch the prisoners at Stalag 13,
on the TV show, Hogan’s Heroes. I remember he liked apple strudel, but mostly
I liked him for one of his famous sayings, “I hear nothing …I see nothing …I
know nothing.”
Without God’s Word
…without Him giving us the ability …we would know nothing. We wouldn’t even be so apt as to “see no
evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” …some would say, if Adam & Eve hadn’t
eaten from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, that is.
Would we prefer our
life to be more like “monkey see, monkey do”??
Sometimes parenting becomes like that …and sometimes the guest monkey is
our own TV, or maybe not.
It depends much upon
whether we believe in evolution, or if there is a higher purpose …and we
believe it all happened the way it was supposed to. Much understanding comes through failure …if
the failure is realized, and remedied.
And we don’t believe life is short, so any amount of monkeying around is
okay.
And what do we call
true science? All scientists do not agree …yet, do all have an equal chance to
present their findings? I’ve heard that
many scientists are funded to find that which is of value. It would make sense that a geologist would be
interested in finding gold or diamonds. Some
may even mention a pearl of great price.
Yes, it has much to do with what we value. And if you are being funded by someone else,
it seems to be a motivating factor to find something that is of interest to the
very people who are funding you. And it
would make them most happy to continue to fund you if what you present to them
fits the fancy of their narrative if they are paying you for sparkling ideas
instead of rocks.
I worked in a field
of ideas. I worked with psychologists
and psychiatrists. Many of the esteemed
people had degrees enough to gain favor with many of their peers within the
field of mental health, often with a heavy emphasis on unproven revolutionary
ideas. I was going to call this one
person Dr. Schulz …but, I recall another person with many degrees (our
assistant Pastor) whom they have jokingly at times called Fahrenheit. So, I will refer to this person I had
conversed with …Dr. Fahrenheit.
Dr. Fahrenheit had
told me he had been chosen to write policies and guidelines for the facility
…and he asked me if I knew why he was chosen to do the job. Of course, I didn’t know why …but, I didn’t
have to ask him because he was going to proudly tell me without any prompting. Dr. Fahrenheit told me the reason was
…because he could write policy with such length and with so much unfamiliar
language, that no person would be able to understand it. And most professionals would not want to
admit they did not understand it, so nobody challenged it, or even questioned
it.
And this is, I
believe, what many evolutionary scientists do. A few
months ago, I listened to an hour long video on evolution. Every idea the video presented was presented
as fact. Those professed scientists who
put together the video didn’t seem obliged to prove anything …likely thinking
there was no way to prove they were wrong.
And as was the case with Dr. Fahrenheit, they were confident no one
could come forward with any proof against what was said …as few of us even
understood the language they were saturating us with.
As Christians, we
can’t prove most of what we believe either.
Others trust a scientist. We
trust God. The difference to me is …that
God makes sense.
What I am writing, I
hope you will find more interesting, as I feel you will be able to understand
it.
Most problems sadly
result from lack of interest or a short attention span. The latter is something I perhaps challenge
too much, as you need a long attention span to listen to me, and the ability to
be polite to a degree that others may say you have the patience of a saint.
For those of you who
read the Bible, perhaps your resolve to learn has increased …yet, if you feel
what I’m saying hampers your spiritual growth, then continue your resolve to
read the Bible. It is not necessary to listen
to me. The last thing I want to do is to
discourage anyone from reading the Bible.
But, don’t automatically assume that there is a conflict here. What I want to present here does require the
Bible, as I believe it is the foundation of truth …and contains the only words
we can trust to base our lives upon.
Yes, found in the Word of God.
As two unfamiliar
cultures attempt to understand each other, there is often much
miscommunication. And if each culture has
radically different languages …then, as they do slowly begin to learn to
communicate, it would be difficult for the rest of us to understand their
discourse …so, I’m writing this as if the language is the same.
Here goes:
Missionary Mike lands
his pontoon plane on the widest part of the Amazon River . It had been a long, tiring experience …and
even frightful at times, but well worth it.
After all, there was
nothing more frightful in his mind than the images of hell. He questioned what images, if any, that
entered his head could be remotely accurate, but just the same …all the images
were bad, and he knew hell would be also.
This is why Mike had
decided to become a missionary. He
wholeheartedly understood God’s grace and mercy, especially for those who are
ignorant of the truths of the Bible …but, he also believes what he read in the
Book of Romans, about how certain things are without excuse. And he firmly believes that anyone who
embraces voodoo, and begins cursing others …down deep that person knows it’s
wrong. When a person does something to
another, it must cross his mind that it could be him next time. It’s sort of within the Golden Rule …as we do
unto others as we’d have them to do unto us, we also don’t do unto others as we
would not want them to do to us.
And Mike was right
…they did know it was wrong. Unlike many
of his family back in the United
States , they rather quickly were open to the
truth …and wanted to change.
A tear enters his
eye, joined by others. Mike doesn’t just
care about these tribal people …he also cares deeply about family and friends
back home. He lowers his head in prayer
…praying for all those he knows, who embrace so much wrong, and even embrace
the worst of wrongs at times.
Mike cries a bit,
then realizes he can only do what he can do …and though he thoroughly
frustrates himself at times attempting to reach out to family and friends, he
had reached these tribal people.
So many family and
friends had said he should get a regular job …a “real job”. On the other hand, his dad never says
anything to him at all. Mike wonders
which is worse, but since it is his dad being silent …that is most devastating
to him.
It seemed to pay off
for Dad, but for a son, seeing Dad always busy does not build the best of
relationships. When he was young, Mike tried to bond with his dad by showing
some interest in Dad’s business. It
wasn’t difficult, as Dad made jigsaw puzzles for a living. But, every time young Mike had busied himself
with putting together one of the jigsaw puzzles, Dad had voiced disappointment,
“Don’t you have something better to do?
You’re not going to get ahead in life by just sitting around trying to
put together cut up pictures.”
Thinking back on
this, it is still rather puzzling to Mike …but, now he did have something
better to do, whether dad agreed or not.
Nevertheless, Mike
feels whether he has peace with Dad, or not …he has pieces of Dad’s life in his
heart …puzzle pieces, at least.
Mike had taken
several of the puzzles with him on this missionary trip. And the puzzles seemed to really make a hit
with the tribal people. Mike was
surprised …particularly with three brothers who really seemed to have a knack
for putting puzzles together. Their
names were Ging, Newt, and Richard. It
was not uncommon to have names like Ging, Bat, Gila, or Newt …but, Richard
seemed like too sophisticated of a name.
Though Richard did appear to be a bit more intelligent than his
brothers, so it kind of fit. Maybe
Richard had previous contact with a more civilized group of people outside of
his tribe. It was very possible he also
had the name of a flying or crawling animal, but he’d taken the name of someone
he’d met named Richard. These people
were highly impressionable.
One time Mike had
called Richard …Rich. But, Richard
didn’t seem to like that much. Mike had
never thought of this before, but if you put the names of the three brothers
together by their heights and not their age …it could be Newt Ging Rich. Mike laughs, but also gets a tear in his
eye. The last time he’d tried to bond
with Dad was during the Presidential primary of the first year he was eligible
to vote. He and Dad had both voted for
Newt Gingrich. Mike had felt it was
‘like father, like son’, but his dad hadn’t seemed to care.
Mike says, “I’ll see
what I can do.” But, he is not sure he
even wants to ask Dad …as it’s always so painful to be faced with disinterest,
and even worse when it’s a bold refusal.
Dad always said, “Nothing venture, nothing gained.” But, Mike is certain it doesn’t apply to
their father-son relationship.
Mike feels real good
about the next couple of months, but he does not feel good about his trip
home. The closer he gets to home, the
more he feels sick to his stomach. Some
things never change …and he certainly isn’t looking forward to seeing Dad
again. He loves Dad, but he has given up
about hoping those feelings could ever be shared.
Mike is shocked when
he gets home. Dad gives him a big hug,
and tells him there is something he wants to show him. “I’ve been working on a
lightweight metallic alloy that I want to try on a few select jigsaw
puzzles. Is there a photo you could give
me? I can make it into a puzzle, and you
can take it to that Brazilian forest with you.
With all that humidity, I think a metallic puzzle would be just the
thing for that jungle climate. Do you
have a photo of that tribe you’ve been working with?”
Mike is so happy, “I
sure do, Dad!” He is barely able to get
the words out of his mouth.
The tribal villagers
had piled up thirty stones. Each day
they would remove a stone. When they’d
get to the last stone, it would be the day they could look forward to Mike
returning.
When their stone pile
got half its size, the tribe got real worried.
It was not that they didn’t trust Mike would return when he said he
would …it was because some other people had arrived. They had felt uneasy when Mike had first
arrived, but this was different. When
Mike had arrived for the first time, the uneasiness had soon passed. But, this
feeling lingers for days.
The tribe decides to
spy on this new group of people. A large
section of the forest had been cut, and many of the neighboring tribal people had also been cut down …in the
prime of their life, by swift blazes of fire launched from shiny logs that it
took two men to carry. It was not only scary ...they had never witnessed so much unprovoked violence. But, they felt Mike could do
something about it …if he got there on time.
And they did feel he’d get there when he said he would.
They cheered when
they got to the last stone in the pile.
And they waited …and waited.
They cheered all the
more louder, when they saw his pontoon plane …up, and afar. They jumped up and down as Mike got
closer. Though he was still high up
…they knew it was him, and they cheered.
They felt all their fears were soon to be over.
Then they saw the
blaze. They heard the whistle after they
saw the blaze …through the air, up and up.
And they saw the biggest blaze they had ever seen, followed by the
loudest explosion.
At first they
recalled all the horrific images of those bodies ripped apart among the fallen
timbers, once ‘home’ to the
neighboring tribes. They had not been
friendly to the neighboring tribe, but Mike had told them he would go with them
and bring peace to the tribes …and they would be the new friends, and also
friends to Jesus. They shared Mike’s
eagerness to share a new life with the neighboring tribe. But, when the timber had begun to fall, those
who still had life …had fled.
They had seen those
who had died along with the fallen timbers.
They now feared what could have happened to Mike. But, Richard smiles, “That couldn’t happen to
Mike. Mike has new life. It’s like he told us of Elijah. That fire we saw was Mike leaving in a
chariot of fire.”
Richard rebukes his
brother, “Don’t start that voodoo stuff again, we are Christians now. Don’t lose faith ‘cause Mike left us …we must
not fall back to our old ways.”
Ging insists, “No …I
mean, look here. It’s puzzle piece. It’s Newt’s eye.”
Suddenly they felt
Mike had left them something …something very meaningful to them. And they had renewed hope. They searched for the next hour …but, only
found one more puzzle piece.
They didn’t know it
was a 2,000-piece puzzle, so they had no clue how many pieces they had to find,
but they were determined. Part of the
plane that had exploded had landed in the center of the wide Amazon
River , and another section
of the plane seemed to crash against some trees, still ablaze.
Newt convinced several others to get in a couple boats to see what they could find. They all put their hands in the water, as if
that would help them find a puzzle piece …but, Newt kept his one hand held high
in the air, with the one puzzle piece clenched within his fist, “I keep eye
out.” And he felt proud to be their
leader.
Richard didn’t want
to lead, nor did he have interest in anyone following him. He went solo to a thick clump of trees where
there was still a blaze.
Hours later, it began
to get dark. They gathered together to
report their findings. They were so
excited by the concept of a jigsaw puzzle of them, but still those first two
puzzle pieces were the only two found.
Back in the United States ,
the problem that is left for us to solve …is to decide how long each of us
believes it would take the tribe to retrieve the remaining 1,998 puzzle
pieces. But, for the moment …hold that
thought.
If we are going to
look at this scientifically, let’s look at something the scientists have
said. They say the Big Bang happened
approximately 14 billion years ago …and everything we see today is the result
of that unbelievable ‘bang’, as it exploded outward. Scientists also hold solid to many laws, such
as the law of gravity. See if you can
grasp the gravity of what I’m going to mention next.
The laws of
thermodynamics are widely accepted among scientists. The first can be summed up by saying nothing
can be created, nor destroyed. That
would be saying that everything that exists today, also existed before the Big
Bang, during the Big Bang, and after the Big Bang ---just in a different
form. According to that law, you would
have difficulty believing the Bible …and may doubt that God created us. Evolutionists are fine with the first law of
thermodynamics. I don't know how they can be ...because something, even if it's invisible energy, had to exist first, but they don't seem to bother themselves with details that don't support their theory. Though, I do believe
there would be major problems for evolutionists …with the second law of
thermodynamics. To sum up that law,
dynamic action (how more dynamic could a Big Bang be?) moves towards decreasing
potential energy and maximizing entropy (which is a spreading apart).
Entropy is also
described as disorder. An example would
be …if you are carrying a large bowl of M&Ms, and you trip ---the M&Ms
will not fall to the floor in the same shape as the bowl which had previously
held them. They are going to spread out. And furthermore, all the red ones are not
going to group themselves together, separate from the yellow, green, blue,
orange, and brown (unless Joshua is there).
And the story I told
about the 2,000-piece puzzle, exploding from the airplane …as time goes on,
many of the pieces traveling down the tremendous Amazon River would eventually
flow into the Atlantic Ocean . Pieces would fall in the trees and thickets,
and others would eventually sink below the surface of the soil. As time passes, they are not coming
together. It would be greater odds to
contend that the 2,000-piece puzzle could assemble itself before it even hit
the ground. And how many of you can
believe that would happen. Even with
intelligence and determination, those tribal people will never be able to bring
together all those puzzle pieces as they once were.
And it’s also beyond
absurdity to think that an explosion of energy would selectively create all the elements that exist in the
universe, selectively assembling them together in one precise and exact
location ---not only on one planet earth ---but, 100 trillion atoms in one
microscopic spot to form one cell, of which 100 trillion other cells would have
to precisely arrange themselves in relation to each of the other 100 trillion
cells with determination and function to become a being of which they say we evolved from. And you’d think that the red M&Ms sorting themselves out would be
absurd, or a mere 2,000-piece puzzle assembling itself in mid-air to be an
impossibility.
Scientifically, it is
an impossibility that we exist. So, if
you think we are only a figment ---or a pigment of the imagination, then whose
imagination??
Yes, it is beyond our
comprehension to think God could exist …and for some people it is easier, it
seems, for them to reduce all thought to microscopic activity. As some people say, “Out of sight, out of
mind.”
But, “out of mind”
may become “out of our mind” …our minds entering a state of entropy. Though, before that happens we should ask
ourselves what we do believe in.
Science bases so much on observation as the foundation of what they
teach …but, sadly they also teach, as fact, that which cannot be observed at
all. Let’s get back to foundational
thinking …to observation. Do you observe
good? Do you observe evil? Do you believe good and evil exist in this
world??
If you answered ‘yes’
…to all three of those questions, you probably believe in a Supreme Being. There is nothing but ‘survival of the
fittest’ with evolution …irregardless of whether we adhere to morality or not.
And if you believe in
‘good’ …do you also believe in ‘love’??
The Supreme Being you
believe in, would you say that Supreme Being is good??
Do you believe that
Supreme Being cares?
It seems that many
people have more problem realizing the ‘caring’ than they do with accepting the
‘love part. Many people take a Deist
view, stating that things were put in motion by a Supreme Being, and they then
just took their course. They look at all
the evil in the world, and conclude that the Supreme Being is being inactive at
this time. I mentioned that our God of the
Bible is not inactive. How more active
and caring can there be …sending Jesus to die, so we can have eternal life;
having most of the disciples die violent deaths as a result of their efforts to
spread that ‘good news’; and people going into extreme harm’s way today, to
share that same life changing message???
Of course, that is my
belief. People belief in other Supreme
Beings. But, if you are concerned with
‘caring’ …then perhaps you can explore the concept the same way that I
did. I figure that evidenced by our
world, God would have to be ‘loving’.
Since God is all-powerful, it is the only option I observe …and you
scientists can contemplate this. If evil
were supreme, it would eliminate all good.
Goodness, in the form of love, tolerates that which is not good, in an
attempt to make things better …or good.
And since both evil and good are observed, ‘good’ must be supreme.
‘Love’ is the very
best of ‘good’ …and love expresses itself, it does not stay hidden. With
that is mind, I felt my job was not as difficult as it may have been thought to
be. Since a loving Supreme Being would
want to communicate that love, I felt it was my task to discern how that love
is communicated. And nothing comes close
to exacting the definition of love …as what we read through the pages of the
Bible.
What isn’t clear by
reading the pages of the Bible?
It doesn’t tell us an
extensive amount about angels. But, the
Bible is God’s Word for us …it’s not for the angels. The Bible is all about God’s relationship
with us.
A baby book is all
about us, and when my parents filled out my baby book …sorry, but none of you
were listed in it.
God had already
planned to create beings with the ability to know Him …and that is all of the
human race, as well as the angels. We
may question why He created the angels first, but as far as God is concerned it
is not a question of who should come first.
God knows everything, and He created the angels first because He felt it
was best. Why I think He created them
first, is not necessarily why He decided to …but, it seems that God does not
put restrictions first. I believe Adam &
Eve were given a restriction because they were not first …the angels were.
And after the fall of
a third of the angels, I believe Satan was told he could not attempt to consume
the one person, Adam, with his
deceptions …while Adam was told he could not consume the fruit of one tree.
There is something
interesting, which may appear as a tangent, but maybe it will become
clear. In the Gospel According to
Matthew, Chapter 4, verses 8&9 …it says Satan took Jesus to an exceedingly
high mountain to show Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of
them. Satan said he would give it to
Jesus if He would worship him.
In the Book of
Isaiah, Chapter 14, verses 12-14, it tells how in Lucifer’s heart (Satan’s), he
aspired to exalt his throne above the stars of God, and to be like God. This was not in my notes, but it is certainly
also very wrong if we exalt anything or anyone above or equal to the Word of
God. God’s Word to us is how we get to
know Him …and without the Bible we would have more confusion than we already
have today.
